When the third eyelid gland displaces, it appears as a fleshy pink mass in the corner of the eye. If untreated, it can cause discomfort and lead to reduced tear production.
Surgical Treatment: We create a small pocket in the surrounding tissue and suture the gland back into place with hidden stitches.
Cost: $600 - $800
Recovery: Mild swelling is normal and subsides within a week. We provide ointment for inflammation; no stitches need to be removed.
Entropion is a condition where the eyelid rolls inward, causing eyelashes to rub against the eye. This can result in corneal ulcers, scarring, and vision loss if left untreated.
Breeds at Risk: Shar Peis, Chow Chows, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Cocker Spaniels
Surgical Treatment: Excess eyelid skin is removed, and the eyelid is reshaped using fine dissolvable sutures. Puppies may first be treated with temporary tacking sutures.
Cost: $1,200 - $1,400 (both eyes)
Recovery: Pets return home the same day with medication and a protective cone. Healing takes a few weeks, and owners often report improved demeanour after surgery.
These tumours are common in older dogs and develop along the eyelid margin. While some remain small and benign, others grow and require removal.
Surgical Treatment: Using a precise V-shaped incision, the tumour is removed with minimal loss of eyelid tissue and closed with delicate sutures.
Cost: $750 - $850
Recovery: A protective collar is used post-surgery. An eye ointment is provided to reduce inflammation, and a follow-up at two weeks is included.
